Bitmart hack news. I'm not sure this is the villain who did it. I remember a similar case that happened to the livecoin site. I think this is just news to eliminate the traces of the site owner's own crimes.
Always a possibility. 

Never trust an exchange with your funds.  Unless you are sure they are well regulated by sound laws and a trustworthy competent government.  But, at least as far as Crypto exchanges go, none such exist.

After experiencing a hacked livecoin case, I did not dare to deposit funds in an exchange wallet, I lost a lot of funds on the web.

If you do not trust the exchange funds, then how to trade?

i use distributed exchanges like BTDEX as much as I can.  When I am forced to use an exchange, I transfer the asset to a wallet immediately after the trade is completed.
