Don't you know what a range is, it's the price gap between the close and the open, that's what is usually used for analysis and taken in the middle to open a position as a continuation. You can learn more about it in the book later.

Regarding learning the range, it is something important because when you don't understand the range, you will find it difficult to trade in the right way and first master the way between open and close.
