The use of short or long term depends on your busyness and depends on your activities and can also depend on your own knowledge if you don't like short term you can use long term because it is more relaxed but when you like fluctuations or use big risks you can use short term

I really agree when we have to use a long time period because I think a long time period will make us more comfortable in making confirmations.
