As long as you wait for the correct transaction momentum then I am sure your Open position will be in the right area but when you Open a position without waiting for the momentum I am sure that the way you do the position is definitely correct and indeed following the direction is good but waiting for the momentum to make the entry point  That's more important so that later you don't end up floating minus.

In my opinion, momentum should not change, for example when you open a position using the head and shoulders pattern, make sure you always use that method when opening a position and just wait for that moment or maybe you use a moving average or stochastic indicator, make sure you use that.  So don't change momentum so you don't get confused later.
