Math was never my strong point so perhaps someone can help with this. I'm always experimenting with forex related things and was reading about arbitrage. Anyway, for a bit of fun I used three instruments and set them away.... For example...

S gbpjpy
B gbpusd
B usdjpy

At 100 pips profit I had opposite pending orders set up to lock in the profit and found that it often makes money. Was it just luck? What is the math? ... It boggles my brain thinking about it.

I think you are referring to Triangular Arbitrage. It works but I think it is rare to find big inequalities in the price. They would only last a couple seconds at most. Maybe I'm wrong and you're thinking of something else. I'd be interested to see your trades that you mentioned.

I didn't just use the triangle, each pair had an opposite pending order waiting as they made 100 pips, my assumption was that I had a lucky reversal but I can't visualize it.

I'm not sure what you mean without seeing your orders or having more information.

I think it's random price movement and luck but it mostly seems to spring back and lock in a profit. Obviously I'm covered until the triangle is broken but more times than not I get a reversal.

It's interesting. Have you been trading like this for a while?

No, it's just a game really... I do the set up and normally when I check on it later it has locked in a profit. I don't know what dynamics are in play math wise, I have no idea whether there is any potential in it.

a very good strategy and a little extra also if used for all instruments must be better and better because it can analyze all these instruments to be a reference for determining open positions, this technique is very useful even though I just heard it

this trade is very strange, when you have 3 currency pairs with a move that has an effect or together, I really don't understand but you might be able to explain in more detail.

very good if all traders have a concept like you do, but unfortunately traders, especially beginners, never wear it, eventually all initial capital is gone, and I myself will try to make a concept like you did, permission to use your concept
